The Take Ten Program is designed to prepare a competitive workforce in the Gwinnett and North Fulton Communities, the innovative faculty and staff of the Gwinnett Technical College Adult Education Department provide exceptional educational programs that develop 21st Century skills and are responsive to the individual needs of the learner.

In just ten to sixteen weeks you can improve your English skills or earn your high school equivalency credential and start training for a career.

Registration is from August 19 to September 30
Our ten-week Entrepreneurship and Small Business certification program provides students entry-level training on business objectives that will help students become successful business owners. The course includes classroom training, demonstrations, and practical training by our certified instructor. At the end of the course, students will have completed a written test and demonstrated skills which would be expected in a small business setting.

Our 10-week program will start in January 2026 and will take place Monday – Thursday, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Manufacturing Basics – Forklift & Six Sigma Yellow Belt
Learn the skills required to safely operate an industrial forklift truck. This training prepares you for an entry-level manufacturing position. Gain knowledge in manufacturing organizational processes like Six Sigma + Lean while getting your Forklift Certification making you ready for one of the most in-demand jobs in Georgia.
Forklift Overview:
Get certified and meet OSHA requirements.
Six Sigma Yellow Belt:
A Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt is the first step into the world of process improvement. You will learn the concepts of Six Sigma, such as being responsible for small projects or serving as a team member in more complex improvement projects led by Certified Green or Certified Black Belts.
Career Readiness Training Overview:
Learn the essential skills needed in order to acquire, maintain, and grow within a company. Key topics are communication, critical thinking, emotional intelligence and time management.
All materials provided, no book/material purchase required.

Important:
- Qualifications: All candidates must complete an Adult Education registration, apply for funding and take the Tests of Adult Basic Education (TABE) Test in order to be eligible.
- Instructional Format: Hybrid Online and In-Classroom/Field.
Our 5-day program will be held October 21 – 26, 2025.
Monday – Saturday from 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Introduces the student to the role and responsibilities of the Nurse Aide. Emphasis is placed on understanding and developing critical thinking skills, as well as demonstrating knowledge of the location and function of the human body systems and common disease processes, responding to and reporting changes in a resident’s condition.
Specific topics include: roles and responsibility of the Nurse Aide; communication and interpersonal skills; topography, structure and function of the body systems; injury.

Students will become familiar with all aspects related to blood collection and develop comprehensive skills to perform venipunctures completely and safely. Classroom work includes terminology, anatomy and physiology, blood collection procedures, specimen hands-on practice, and clinical training in skills and techniques to perform puncture methods.

This training covers the fundamentals of welding for manufacturing as required by the metal fabrication industry. The welding training provides extensive hands-on training in:
- MIG (metal inert gas)
These fundamentals prepare you for welding within a manufacturing environment.
Students will also receive training in:
- Electric arc welding safety
This program will help you develop the essential welding skills you need for entry-level welding in a manufacturing setting.
Important:
Take Ten+ is open to eligible HSE seeking students AND English as a Second Language (ESL) students.
Program will restart August 2025.
Classroom trainings will be Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Hands-On Welding trainings will be Monday – Thursday from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.

The minimum requirement for preliminary admission into the Take Ten+ program, and to be invited to a detail-oriented Info Session, all potential candidates must take, and successfully meet the pre-set score requirement for the TABE level 11 – 12 Test. Test dates & times will be scheduled individually.
Before you can be considered for the Take Ten+ program and attend the invitation-only information session, all applicants are required to: Take & pass the entire TABE level 11 – 12 test.
The TABE level 11 – 12 Tests are FREE, and take a maximum of two (2) hours to complete.

All interested candidates are required to take and pass Reading, Math, and Language Arts TABE tests based on the level of education per candidate. This is a two-day process.
All interested candidates are required to own a reliable Desktop, Laptop, or iPad/Tablet equipped with cameras and reliable home Wi-Fi for all online classes.
